**Verdict: the bridge holds, but not where the seed pointed.** The seed's surface
resemblance — "both recast a famous thing under a new objective" — is partly
superficial: the Werbos–Freud note is an *inventor's origin story* (what motivated
him), while Oaksford & Chater is a *normative re-explanation of behaviour* (people
