at the same eight-page essay. The 1976-consensus sentence itself carries no
footnote of its own in the 2005 article — it is Greenhalgh's own unsourced
assertion — but the "1978" half of the "1976 predates 1978" comparison Note
1 rests on is not free-standing: it is exactly the document

elsewhere in the vault as "the single most load-bearing unread primary" in

accurate, Song's first contact with population cybernetics predates, rather

order is politics-then-technique; under the 1975 dating, it is

dating of Song's encounter to be correct, and Note 2 is part of the very
evidentiary record that dating rests on and that a rival account (Olsder's
