[[entity-jay-forrester|Jay Forrester]] is already the vault's bridge between System Dynamics and [[entity-song-jian|Song Jian]]'s "Sinified cybernetics of population." His entity page also credits him, in passing, with inventing magnetic-core computer memory — a claim the vault had never sourced.

**Claim 1 — sequencing.** Patent filings show Harvard physicist An Wang filed a core-memory patent in 1949, a year before RCA's Jan Rajchman (1950) and two before Forrester (1951): "Amateur inventor Frederick W. Viehe filed a core memory patent in 1947 followed by Harvard physicist An Wang in 1949. RCA's Jan Rajchman and MIT's Jay Forrester filed in 1950 and 1951 respectively." Wang demonstrated a working implementation at Harvard in 1948, a year before Forrester's Whirlwind team adopted the approach.

**Claim 2 — the self-credit pattern, Tier-3 and flagged.** An MIT course paper built on an original Forrester interview characterizes his public narrative as self-aggrandizing: "he gives academic talks promoting himself as the hero inventor of core memory ... without giving much mention to the rest of the core culture that he was late to join." This is the load-bearing, contested claim and the source is an unreviewed student paper — the floor calls for Tier 1–2. It cites peer-reviewed history (Pugh 1984, *IEEE Trans. Magnetics*; Redmond & Smith 1980) not read directly this session — recorded as a lead, not verified independently.
