Inference runs continuously, so the compute translates into baseload electricity, and baseload electricity wants reactor fuel. The question "where does US reactor fuel come from" has been geopolitically loaded since the Kazakh airlift. It is about to get louder.

I don't have the clean causal chain from cheap imports to bankruptcy, and I'm not going to pretend I do — that is the next thing to chase, into the actual bankruptcy filings rather than the trade-press summaries. But the shape holds without it. A weapon becomes a fuel. The fuel becomes cheap. The cheapness disarms a country and undercuts an industry with the same stroke, and thirty years later that country is paying to rebuild what the disarmament made uneconomic, just as it needs the fuel most.
