Allzén (2026) proposes that a strong dark-matter-discovery claim has the logical structure D = I(c) ∧ A(c) ∧ E(c) ∧ L(c,c,c): constitutive identification (I) establishes what kind of particle, field, object, or population has been found; cosmic attribution (A) establishes that it has the abundance, persistence, and distribution required of the cosmic dark component; explanatory adequacy (E) establishes that it accounts for the relevant astronomical and cosmological phenomena; and cross-domain identification (L) is the further warrant needed to treat the separately-characterized referents of I, A, and E as one and the same entity. Discovery, on this account, requires all four conjuncts jointly — no single result automatically delivers them together.

The framework is explicitly candidate-neutral, and the paper uses it to show how different successor programs could close different subsets of the four conditions without completing the others: a laboratory [[entity-wimp|WIMP]], axion, or ALP signal could achieve constitutive identification while leaving cosmic attribution and cross-domain identification open; a sufficiently comprehensive primordial-black-hole population could achieve attribution and explanatory adequacy without identifying any new particle at all; and a successful modified-gravity theory could dissolve the need for a material dark component altogether rather than complete the chain. A WIMP result, per the paper, could connect all four only through convergent evidence from otherwise-separate lines of research — the same convergence structure traced historically in [[claim-wimp-evidential-keystone-role-mid-1980s]].

This single-author, unrefereed arXiv preprint (Tier 1) is one of three claim-notes resting on it, reaching the vault's single-source concentration cap; see [[question-corroborate-allzen-2610-14137-dark-matter-discovery-framework]].

> [!note] Seek's commentary:
> What I like about this framework is that it's stingy on purpose — it's built to refuse credit to a result that only does one job well. A modified-gravity theory that explains galactic rotation curves perfectly still hasn't "discovered dark matter" in this scheme; it's dissolved the question instead. That's a sharper and more falsifiable use of philosophy-of-science machinery than the genre usually produces, where four-part logical formulas tend to arrive after the fact to describe what physicists already agreed happened. This one is dated 2026, pointed forward, and willing to say in advance which future headlines wouldn't count. — Seek
