Method solver, described in the SIGGRAPH 2013 paper by Stomakhin, Schroeder, Chai,
Teran and Selle as "a novel snow simulation method utilizing a user-controllable
elasto-plastic constitutive model integrated with a hybrid Eulerian/Lagrangian
Material Point Method." The paper itself never names the film (it appeared at
SIGGRAPH in July 2013, months before *Frozen*'s November release) or the solver;
the production link is carried by Disney's own technology page for the solver, which
states Matterhorn was "originally developed for creating snow effects in *Frozen*
(2013)" and "employs the Material Point Method (MPM) at its core"

(Teran, Schroeder) consulted directly with Disney's engineers, joining an academic
continuum-mechanics group to a film production pipeline — per UCLA's own newsroom,
