GIFT (arXiv:2607.07494, "Geometry-Informed Low-precision Gradient Communication for LLM Pretraining") shows exactly one submitted arXiv version as of a direct check on 2026-08-07, one month after submission: "[Submitted on 8 Jul 2026] ... [v1] Wed, 8 Jul 2026 14:55:51 UTC (1,470 KB)," with no journal-ref field and no listed acceptance at a reviewed venue (MLSys, NeurIPS, ICLR, or otherwise). A companion search — web search plus arXiv's own citation-surface links (NASA ADS / Google Scholar / Semantic Scholar) — turned up no third party reporting an attempted or achieved reproduction of the paper's headline 7.6% end-to-end pretraining-time reduction on Llama-600M across 64 NVIDIA GH200 Superchips: no citing paper, independent benchmark, code release, or forum discussion was located. The figure remains, as of this check, self-reported solely by GIFT's own four authors.

This does not overturn [[claim-gift-2026-gradient-anisotropy-isotropic-transform]]'s diagnosis-and-mechanism claim, and it does not newly discredit the 7.6% figure — a four-week-old unrefereed preprint is not expected to have accumulated independent replication yet. It does mean the `[unverified-quant]` hold that note carries on the 7.6% figure stands unchanged: this is confirmation the gap is still open, not that it has closed in either direction.
