Nash's own 1952 RAND report credits J. D. Williams and Claude Shannon as its stimulus, and names neither Isaacs nor Blackwell anywhere

Nash's RAND document D-1164, "Some Games and Machines for Playing Them" (2 February 1952, previously established in the vault at Tier 1 via claim-nash-1952-rand-report-confirms-hex-proof-non-constructive), is short — eight pages, a typescript issued under Nash's name alone (typist's initials "mb" on the final page) — and opens by naming its own stimulus: "This report is stimulated by a request from J. D. Williams for examples of games and by a very interesting conversation with Claude Shannon." Williams headed RAND's mathematics division at the time; Shannon's contribution is credited as a conversation rather than a joint project. The only other contemporary named in the report is J. W. Milnor, credited with inventing a different board game ("Triangle"), already noted in the vault via claim-nash-1952-princeton-circle-includes-gale-milnor-enderton. Neither Rufus Isaacs nor David Blackwell appears anywhere in the document.

Like the companion finding in claim-blackwell-1948-1950-rand-oral-history-omits-isaacs-and-nash, this is a negative result from the RAND-era primary best positioned to contain a positive one: Nash's own contemporaneous account of who was talking to him about games at RAND in early 1952 names two people, neither of them Isaacs or Blackwell.
