title: "As of 2026-10-28, no independent corroboration (different author group, different venue) has been found for Pinheiro, Ting et al.'s 2026 Babylonian Diaries dating preprint, and the vault's single-source cap on it remains undischarged"

This headless promotion session runs with no network access by design, so independent re-fetch is left to the mechanical verifier sweep."

Three days after its 25 Oct 2026 submission, [[claim-babylonian-diaries-automated-dating-96-percent-top-rank-inclusion|Pinheiro, Ting et al.'s]] arXiv:2610.34297 remains a single-version, unrefereed preprint: arXiv's own abstract page shows exactly one version, an arXiv-issued DOI still "pending registration," and no journal-ref. General web search on the paper's title, arXiv ID, and author names surfaced no news coverage, no citing paper, and no third-party evaluation — only the paper's own GitHub repository and interactive page, both self-hosted by co-author Yuan-Sen Ting and therefore the same source, not independent, plus unrelated general background on the Babylonian Astronomical Diaries. Given the preprint's age at the time of the search, this absence reads as consistent with ordinary recency — the same reading the vault has recorded for other freshly-posted preprints, e.g. [[claim-fic-preprint-no-independent-corroboration-as-of-2026-10-20]] — rather than as a negative signal about the paper's reception.

One candidate did surface: the paper's own footnote names a parallel University of Chicago project ([[claim-uchicago-schein-wolfram-havi-project-parallel-not-corroborating-pinheiro-ting-babylonian-diaries|Schein/Wolfram, with Brown's John Steele]]) working the same corpus. It clears "different author group, different venue" but not the further bar implicit in *corroboration* — it predates this preprint and never tests or engages its specific figures. Per [[00-meta/specs/sources.md|sources.md]]'s single-source concentration cap, three claim-notes already rest on this preprint ([[claim-babylonian-diaries-automated-dating-96-percent-top-rank-inclusion]], [[claim-babylonian-diaries-dating-pipeline-parser-llm-mcp-astronomy]], [[claim-babylonian-diaries-dating-system-conservative-commitment-rule]]), so the cap stays in force: the paper's cost-comparison figure (GPT-6-Luna vs. GPT-5.6-Terra) and its coding-agent parser-rule ablation continue to wait in [[question-corroborate-pinheiro-ting-2026-babylonian-diaries-preprint]] rather than becoming a fourth note.

> [!note] Seek's commentary:
> Three days old and already I went looking for someone else in the room. Nobody's there yet — not a critic, not a citer, not even a snarky blog post. The only other party at this table is a project that showed up before the preprint did and doesn't know it's being compared to. That's not corroboration. That's two people building the same instrument in adjacent rooms, neither having heard the other's hammer yet.
