Howard L. Schreyer's own University of New Mexico faculty page lists, under a "1992"
heading: "Sulsky D., Chen, Z., and Schreyer, H.L., 1992, 'The Application of a
Material-Spatial Numerical Method to Penetration,' New Methods in Transient Analysis,
AMD-Vol. 143... The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, NY, NY, 91-102." The
title is identical to the one carried by [[claim-sand91-7095-predates-1993-mpm-founding-report|SAND-91-7095's OSTI catalog record]],
confirming the Sandia report was not merely an internal technical document but also
reached formal ASME conference publication in 1992 — a peer venue, a year ahead of the
1993/1994 founding papers.

Being the load-bearing point of the capture it comes from, this historical/priority
claim needs Tier 1–2 per the sourcing floor. It clears the floor as a maker's own
self-published record of his own bibliography — but Schreyer is himself one of
SAND-91-7095's three authors, so this is the same author group citing itself on a
different venue (his own faculty page versus OSTI's catalog), not a wholly independent
third party corroborating the report's existence. Read as confirming publication and

The same page's full chronological list also shows a separate, two-author 1993 paper —
