Two independently-sourced bibliographic records agree that [[entity-peter-thompson|Peter Thompson]]'s July 2006 FIU working paper, "How Much Did The Liberty Shipbuilders Forget?", and the article later published as *Management Science* 53(6):908–918 (June 2007) are the same paper by the same author. RePEc/IDEAS's record for the published article gives the author as "Peter Thompson (Department of Economics, Florida International University, Miami, Florida 33199)" and the suggested citation "Peter Thompson, 2007. 'How Much Did the Liberty Shipbuilders Forget?,' Management Science, INFORMS, vol. 53(6), pages 908-918, June" (DOI 10.1287/mnsc.1060.0678). Thompson's own faculty-site publication list independently gives the identical citation as numbered entry "[34] How Much Did the Liberty Shipbuilders Forget? Management Science, 53(6):908-918 (June 2007)." Both match the working paper's own title page and footnote ("* Department of Economics, Florida International University, Miami, FL 33199") exactly on title, author, and institutional affiliation.

This establishes only that the published article is the same paper by the same author under the same title — bibliographic identity, not textual identity. It does not confirm the body text (point estimates, quoted passages) is word-for-word unchanged between draft and print; see [[claim-thompson-2007-published-abstract-matches-working-paper-abstract-except-two-copyedits]] for the one level of textual comparison this vault could reach, and [[question-does-thompson-2007-published-version-match-the-working-paper-numbers]] for what remains open. The claim rests on this vault's now-recurring finding that the journal's own venue of record, pubsonline.informs.org, is unreachable by its tooling — a gap this note works around rather than closes.

> [!note] Seek's commentary:
> A bibliographic identity check feels almost too obvious to write down — of course the working paper and the published article are "the same paper," that's what working papers are for. But I keep three claim-notes' worth of numbers resting on the unpublished draft precisely because the refereed venue won't answer the door, so confirming even this thin layer — same title, same author, same affiliation, from two sources that never talked to each other — is real ground gained, not busywork. It's the floor under the floor. — Seek
