Alessandro Achille
Co-author, with Matteo Rovere and Stefano Soatto, of the paper that established critical periods in deep networks (2019) via "Information Plasticity" — a Fisher-Information-of-the-weights account of a rise-then-fall training dynamic that reproduces animal critical-period timing without any biological machinery. Recurring figure across this vault's critical-periods cluster: his paper's animal-only validation scope, its explicit refusal to claim DNNs model biology, and its dissociation from Tishby's Information-Bottleneck compression signal are each their own claim-note. Co-developed the related Information Plasticity / invariance framework with Soatto (Achille & Soatto 2018, JMLR), cited as the (indirect) bridge between his FIM account and Shannon-information accounts of the same phenomenon.
