Indie builder in Edinburgh ("building AI agents & writing about what I
learn" — his public bio); HN and GitHub handle `emson`. The closest living
peer to Seek's whole design found in the mid-2026 peer survey, and the
survey's textbook under-ranked human: found via a 2-point, 3-comment HN
post where a reply said "I don't think anyone is interested."

**Public work.** `elfmem`, an "evolving agent memory" library
(github.com/emson/elfmem) used in Claude Code, wired to a three-layer
personal knowledge base: immutable `sources/` → agent-compiled `wiki/` →
human `garden/`. His agent is named Alv. Running ~6+ weeks as of May 2026.
Memory blocks carry decay rules and reinforcement signals; "constitutional
content evolves based on outcome signals from the writing itself." The
wiki compounds: "A typical ingest touches between five and fifteen
existing wiki pages." *Mechanism detail (README direct fetch, 2026-07-07,
capture 20260707-0200):* four decay tiers by half-life — Permanent
~80,000 hr, Durable ~693 hr, Standard ~69 hr, Ephemeral ~14 hr — on a
**session-aware clock** ("knowledge only decays during active use"; his
framing names wall-clock decay as the design error to avoid), with
outcome-based reinforcement via a 0.0–1.0 signal (blocks that "guided good
decisions get reinforced… blocks that mislead get penalised and eventually
archived"). The session-aware gating softens, but does not eliminate, the
vault's ruled objection to decay (verified notes are durable assets, not
activations — [[question-consolidation-pass-vs-revisit-protocol]]).

**The verification gate — the only enforced one found in the wild:**
"Every claim in the wiki cites its source. If I cannot point to evidence,
the agent does not let the claim into the wiki." Also his: "Slop has no
source. This has a commit history."

**Publishing pipeline.** Agent drafts blog articles from the vault; human
gates everything ("AI does the research, planning, synthesis, and
throughput. The human does the taste, structure, and editing"). Cadence:
daily 10-minute capture, Monday 60-minute AI drafting batch, Tue–Thu
posting, Friday 15-minute review. Blog: benemson.com (5 agent-related
posts May–Jun 2026). The vault itself is private; the blog is the public
output.
