Brandon Carter
Australian-born theoretical physicist widely credited with coining the "Anthropic Principle" in cosmology — the observation that the universe's physical constants and history must be compatible with the existence of observers able to notice them — in work from the early-to-mid 1970s. He matters to this vault as the figure credited, jointly with William H. McCrea (Carter & McCrea 1983, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society), by Brewer, Lewis & Goodman (2026) as the origin of the "anthropic reasoning" framing their whole paper operates within. McCrea, the paper's co-credited originator, has not independently earned a hub in this vault — co-authorship of the one jointly cited paper is a mention here, not a separate page.
