Founded and, as of the 1969 Pounds Panel report, still directed MIT's
Instrumentation Laboratory ("more than 25 years" by that point) — the lab
whose inertial-guidance work for Polaris/Poseidon and the Apollo Guidance
Computer made it, per the MIT Technology Review, one of MIT's two largest
defense laboratories, and whose 1973 severance from MIT produced the
[[entity-draper-laboratory|Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Inc.]] that
still carries his name. He matters to this vault as the single named person
the entire Instrumentation-Lab/Draper-spinoff thread anchors to: the
