The international standards body for colorimetry and photometry. Its 1976 recommendation produced CIELAB and CIELUV as perceptually-uniform successors to CIEXYZ, and its later technical reports (CIE 15:2004, restating and updating the 1976 work) document both the design intent and the acknowledged residual non-uniformity that CIEDE2000 was built to correct. The vault's CIELAB/CIEDE2000 cluster has treated "the CIE recommends X" as load-bearing across five-plus claim-notes since 2026-07-09, without a hub page until this promotion closed the primary-source verification question for the cluster.
