A digital-rights-management scheme developed by the [[4C Entity]] to bind protected content and keys to specific hardware, reportedly designed as a successor technology after the compromise of the Content Scramble System (CSS/DeCSS) prompted Warner Music Group to seek stronger DVD-Audio protection (Wikipedia, Tier 4 pointer only). Its highest-profile fight was the failed 2000–2001 attempt to standardize it into the [[T13]] ATA hard-drive command set ([[claim-4c-entity-cprm-proposal-bound-content-to-specific-ata-drive]]); the same underlying technology shipped successfully in SD cards as the SDSD-CPRM extension in 2007.
