David G. McKendrick
Co-author with William P. Barnett of the vault's directly-tested hard-disk-drive Red Queen study, and independently the author of at least two other treatments of the same industry — he matters to the vault as the second load-bearing figure in the Barnett Red Queen empirical thread, and the one whose own solo work (not yet read) most plausibly holds the underlying dataset and statistics the vault still lacks.
