British historian of computing and former Senior Curator of Computing and
Information Technology at the Science Museum, London — also known for
leading the museum's reconstruction of Babbage's Difference Engine No. 2. In
this vault, his 1995 *Resurrection* (Computer Conservation Society bulletin)
account of the [[claim-phillips-moniac-hydraulic-economic-computer-1949|MONIAC]]
is an independent, artifact-level corroboration of the machine's accuracy:
describing a surviving machine's own calibrated scales rather than repeating
a secondary figure, he confirms Phillips's own ±4% claim against the ~2%
figure that had circulated uncontested.
