A Twitter/X account run as an arm of the Ethiopian government, launched 11 November 2020 as "State of Emergency Fact Check" (@SOEFactCheck) to disseminate official messaging about the Tigray war under the rhetoric of impartial fact-checking — the government's own spokesperson emailed journalists urging them to follow it, and the Prime Minister's office promoted it directly — then renamed after the ceasefire to "Ethiopia Current Issues Fact Check" (@ETFactCheck). Matters to this vault as a case documented twice, independently, 4.5 years apart: first by Harvard Kennedy School's Media Manipulation Casebook team in August 2021, tracing the account from its primary government-origin evidence, and again by ARM Project Deliverable D5.1 in 2026, which analyzes the same handle under its later name without finding the earlier work.
