His line — "almost half of his entire production dates to the years when Euler was bereft of a scholar's most valuable organ" — is, per a 2026-08-01 search, the earliest located occurrence of the widely repeated "half of Euler's output came after blindness" statistic, predating Allyn Jackson's 2002 AMS *Notices* wording by 119 years with no independent bibliographic count cited by either.
