Frank Hubbard
American harpsichord maker (1920–1976) who co-founded a Boston workshop with William Dowd in 1949 to build harpsichords on reconstructed historical (Baroque) principles rather than the piano-derived "revival" style then practiced by virtually all professional makers — a reversal credited with driving the "re-revival" of the historical harpsichord. Matters to this vault as the central named actor in its harpsichord craft-history cluster, and as the presumed author of Three Centuries of Harpsichord Making (Harvard University Press, 1965), a likely Tier 1 primary source not yet fetched or read.
