Georg Ernst Stahl

German chemist and physician (1659–1734), one of the most influential chemical theorists of the early 18th century and the originator of the phlogiston theory of combustion. His 1731 book, Experimenta, Observationes, Animadversiones, CCC Numero, Chymicae et Physicae, is — per Alexander Kraft's archival research — the earliest known written source for the specific "Diesbach borrowed contaminated potash from Dippel" detail carried in the popular Prussian blue discovery story, written 25 years after the 1706 event he is describing.
