Gerd Heusser
Low-background nuclear physicist (Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik, Heidelberg) who wrote the 1995 Annual Review of Nuclear and Particle Science survey "Low-Radioactivity Background Techniques" and later co-authored steel-screening work for the GERDA experiment. Matters to this vault because a single sentence in that review, attributing iron's cobalt-60 to furnace-lining gauge sources, is the only Tier-1 statement located that names the gauge route (claim-heusser-1995-traces-steel-cobalt-60-contamination-to-furnace-gauge-sources), and because his co-authorship of Maneschg et al. 2008 means the two are not independent sources (claim-maneschg-2008-finds-cobalt-60-in-all-13-stainless-steel-batches-with-heusser-as-coauthor).
