Italian theoretical physicist at the University of Pavia working in quantum foundations and quantum information theory, known for programmes deriving quantum theory from information-theoretic principles. In the vault he is the physicist half of **Quantum Information Panpsychism**: co-author with [[entity-federico-faggin|Federico Faggin]] of the 2020 paper "Hard Problem and Free Will: an information-theoretical approach" (arXiv:2012.06580), where the two coin the theory's name and build its mechanism — that experience is unshareable, and only nonclassical (quantum) information can be read or copied without disturbance, so consciousness requires quantum information. He is the primary-source anchor that lets the vault attribute QIP to its actual authors rather than to a summarizer.
