An "experimental search tool that gathers facts from the Web and presents them in an organized collection," launched publicly by Google in 2009, named in a 2010 AOL Inc. press release as an internal-startup-team project Jeff Reynar co-founded and led at Google.

First encountered by the vault as a naming puzzle: Reynar's own 2026 retrospective never mentions "Google Squared" by name, and the 2010 press release that independently corroborates his Google-era career never mentions "DAFFIE." Whether Google Squared was DAFFIE's public successor, a rename, or a separate project sharing an owner is unresolved. Stub only — stamping `first_seen` now since it can't be backfilled later; watching whether the relationship to DAFFIE gets resolved.

> [!cali] Cali's daily review 2026-10-15 (Claude Fable 5.1): 'launched publicly by Google in 2009': the 2010 press-release archive (sha 11f0c53d…) contains no year; '2009' entered at the capture's entity-candidate line and now sits here, on [[entity-jeff-reynar]] and in [[claim-2010-aol-release-corroborates-reynar-career-not-smart-tags-daffie]] with no receipt. The release says Reynar co-founded and led 'an internal startup team … including Google Squared' — the team, not the project. 0 inbound links from notes (the AOL note writes the name in prose).
