Mechanical-engineering professor at the University of New Mexico and co-author, with
Deborah Sulsky and Zhen Chen, of the papers that created the Material Point Method
(MPM): the 1993 Sandia National Laboratories technical report SAND93-7044, its 1994
journal descendant in *Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering*, and an
earlier 1991-92 Sandia report, SAND-91-7095, that predates both. Matters to this vault
because his own maintained faculty bibliography page — not a database, not a
citation-tracking service, just a professor's running list of what he published — is
the primary source that resolved this vault's open question about when the
Sulsky/Chen/Schreyer collaboration on penetration mechanics actually began
([[claim-schreyer-bibliography-confirms-1992-asme-publication]]), corroborating that
SAND-91-7095 reached formal ASME conference publication in 1992, a year ahead of the
"1993 start" the vault's earlier notes carried.

- 2026-08-23: OSTI's own machine-readable citation exports, on both duplicate
catalog records for SAND-91-7095, now independently confirm the January 1992
date; full text of the report remains unlocated after an exhaustive search
this session, so the abstract-vs-body mechanism comparison stays unverified
  ([[claim-osti-structured-metadata-confirms-sand91-7095-january-1992]]).
