Swiss developmental psychologist (1896–1980) whose theory of genetic
epistemology argued that children build their own understanding of the
world through active interaction with it, in developmental stages, rather
than absorbing knowledge transmitted by a teacher — the school of thought
usually called constructivism.

Matters to this vault as the figure [[entity-seymour-papert|Seymour
Papert]] trained under in Geneva before extending Piaget's constructivism
into *constructionism* — knowledge built most effectively while a learner
builds something real and shareable in the world, most sharply expressed
in Papert's line "In my vision, the child programs the computer." Piaget's
name recurs across the vault's Papert cluster as the theorist that
inversion is built against and extends.
