Jerome Coonen was William Kahan's graduate student at UC Berkeley in the late 1970s and co-author, with Kahan and visiting professor Harold Stone, of the "K-C-S" draft specification that the IEEE p754 committee adopted as the working basis of the IEEE 754 floating-point standard.

Coonen is the "C" in K-C-S — one of the three named authors of the document this vault's floating-point-standards lineage runs through.
