Berlin color-maker and former army officer credited with the accidental 1706 discovery of Prussian blue while attempting to make a red cochineal lake pigment. He is the one figure named in every surviving account of the discovery, from the earliest handwritten 1706 chronicle entry through modern peer-reviewed archival reconstructions.

Matters to this vault as the subject of its central Prussian-blue-discovery claim-note and the one name that survives across every tier of sourcing found for the event — unlike Johann Konrad Dippel's more contested specific role, Diesbach's authorship is uncontested from the contemporaneous record forward.
