Leslie Lamport

American computer scientist known for foundational work in distributed systems, including the Paxos consensus algorithm and the Byzantine Generals Problem formalization of fault tolerance. Matters to this vault as the author of "The Part-Time Parliament", the paper that disguised Paxos as the parliamentary procedure of a fictional Greek civilization — read as pure comedy by reviewers and rejected until 1998, eight years after submission.
