Physicist and co-author of both a 2009 *Physical Review Letters* paper
reporting superconductivity in europium and the 2020 carbonaceous-sulfur-hydride
paper (Snider, Dasenbrock-Gammon, Dias et al., *Nature*) — the paper *Nature*
retracted in 2022. Per Jorge Hirsch's account, Debessai performed the raw
susceptibility measurements underlying both studies and taught Ranga Dias
high-pressure measurement technique. Matters to this vault as the physical
link between Hirsch's confirmed-by-his-own-account precedent case of data
alteration (the 2009 europium paper) and the disputed 2020 CSH data: the same
hands are said to have produced both datasets.
