American mathematician (1894–1964) who founded cybernetics with his 1948
book *Cybernetics: Or Control and Communication in the Animal and the
Machine*, and whose WWII-era anti-aircraft prediction work is a recurring
reference point across the vault's control-theory lineage.

Matters to this vault as the named founding figure the field keeps citing
back to without, until now, having his own hub: the standard
cyber-physical-systems literature frames CPS and cybernetics as sharing a
common linguistic root through Wiener rather than one deriving from the

a separate research pass found no citation link between Wiener's
cybernetics and the Kelley/Bryson/Pontryagin/Bellman optimal-control
