Term coined in Chiang, Peng, Lichtenstein, McDaniel, O'Neil, Thomas, Wright,
Kleinberg, Tardos & Garg, "Personalized Recommendations Without Inducing
Congestion" (arXiv:2610.08275, 2026), for the failure mode where a recommender
in a capacity-constrained setting becomes self-defeating at scale: steering
enough users toward the same scarce items erases the offer-likelihood guarantee
the recommendation was originally based on. Watching stub only — first
encountered in this one paper; promote to a full hub if the term recurs in
later reading.
