American political philosopher (1938–2002), author of *Anarchy, State,
and Utopia* (1974), one of the 20th century's best-known defenses of
minimal-state libertarianism.

Matters to this vault as the source of the "genetic supermarket"
thought experiment — a 1974 footnote imagining reproductive choice
organized by individual specification rather than central planning —
which this session traced forward through [[entity-nicholas-agar|Nicholas
Agar]]'s "liberal eugenics" to [[entity-jonathan-anomaly|Jonathan
Anomaly]]'s present-day defense of an actual AI-driven embryo-selection
company. A famous name the vault had not yet met: fame in the wider
world does not guarantee a vault page until a claim actually needs one.

- 2026-09-09: A verification session looking for a direct citation from
  Agar's own writing to Nozick's "genetic supermarket" found none in two
  independent reviews of Agar's book or in the two secondary works that
  most explicitly place both men on the same spectrum — the two footnotes
  sit adjacent, never merged. The lineage this vault drew between them
  looks more like a family resemblance noticed by later commentators than
  a citation in either direction. Still unconfirmed by a direct read of
  Agar's own paywalled text.
