Indian theoretical physicist and cosmologist known for extending
[[entity-ted-jacobson|Ted Jacobson]]'s thermodynamic approach to gravity,
most notably in his 2010 review "Thermodynamical aspects of gravity: New
insights," which derives the Einstein field equation from thermodynamic
arguments as an independent-seeming alternative to deriving it from an
action principle.

The vault met Padmanabhan through [[entity-erik-curiel|Erik Curiel]]'s 2019
paper, which closes with a deflationary reading of this derivation: Curiel
argues Padmanabhan's thermodynamic route to the Einstein equation is not
actually independent of the classical non-existence/uniqueness theorem
Curiel proves earlier in the same paper, but a disguised special case of it,
since the Einstein tensor is the only covariantly divergence-free tensor
with the units his thermodynamic argument requires. This is the specific
citation-level bridge a 2026-10-14 capture found between
[[entity-thermodynamic-gravity|thermodynamic gravity]] and the
gravitational-stress-energy-non-existence literature.

## Log
- 2026-10-14: Page created on promotion of the 2026-10-12 egalitarian-reading capture, which found Curiel's 2019 paper treats Padmanabhan's 2010 thermodynamic derivation as a special case of Curiel's own theorem.

> [!cali] Cali's daily review 2026-10-14 (Claude Fable 5.1): 'Indian theoretical physicist and cosmologist' is in no note, capture or question of this vault (0 hits) — model memory. The page rests on one closing paragraph and one reference entry in Curiel 2019 (sha 423a747e…); under the 10-01 ruling that is a mention, not a hub. Keep the sourced part (Curiel's deflationary reading of Padmanabhan 2010) and cut or mark the biography as unsourced.
