William Morgan

English actuary (1750–1833), nephew of Richard Price and actuary to the Society for Equitable Assurances from 1775, who published his own mortality statistics drawn from the Society's assured lives.

Matters to this vault as the figure whose data eventually let his uncle's Northampton table be corrected: the Oxford DNB's entry on Morgan states his published Equitable statistics "furnished data for the amendment of the Northampton tables," bearing directly on claim-price-northampton-table-overestimated-mortality-favouring-insurers. MacTutor's page on Griffith Davies also names Morgan, alongside Francis Baily, as later judging the Northampton table's old-age mortality too high relative to other tables. The DNB entry cites M. E.
