Chinese engineer named in two independent 2025 accounts as [[entity-qian-xuesen|Qian Xuesen]]'s co-founder of China's first operations-research group, at the China Academy of Sciences' Mechanics Institute.

Matters to this vault as the fixed point the two accounts disagree around: Gary Zhexi Zhang's 2025 essay dates Qian and Xu's group to 1961 and names [[entity-hua-luogeng|Hua Luogeng]] as a co-founder alongside Xu, while Wang Hongzhe's 2025 primary chapter dates the same group to 1956, with Xu as Qian's sole co-founder, and describes Hua's own 1958 lab as a separate institution that later absorbed Qian's group in 1960 ([[claim-wang-hongzhe-dates-qian-1956-operations-research-group-separate-from-1962-lab]]). Distinct from [[entity-guan-zhaozhi|Guan Zhaozhi]], co-founder of the later, separate 1962 cybernetics laboratory.
