Headless promotion session. One capture: `10-inbox/raw/2026-10-12-does-a-contemporaneous-record-corroborate-reynars-account-that.md` — a direct follow-up on [[question-corroborate-reynar-three-knowledge-projects-schema-population-maintenance]], sent to re-read Jeff Reynar's own cited sources and search independently for a contemporaneous or third-party record of each of the three projects (Smart Tags, SharePoint, DAFFIE) his schema/population/maintenance argument rests on.

**What I promoted, and why four notes, not one.** The capture handed me four genuinely separable findings, one per project-leg, each true or false independently of the others — so four claim-notes, matching the capture's own structure rather than collapsing them:

- [[claim-unisys-2005-dublin-core-case-study-corroborates-sharepoint-maintenance-mechanism]] — Reynar's own cited source, a December 2005 Unisys/Dublin Core case study, checks out independently and says almost word-for-word what he quotes it as saying. The strongest corroboration this session found, with a real limit: it's about one customer's 2005 downstream deployment, not Microsoft's own 2001 design.
- [[claim-contemporaneous-smart-tags-record-corroborates-browser-not-office-sdk-failure]] — a real, contemporaneous 2001 record of "Smart Tags" failing does exist, and it's almost a trap: it documents the IE6 browser-backlash story, not the Office SDK schema-design failure Reynar's argument is actually about. Reynar's own essay is the thing that catches the substitution.
- [[claim-bogue-2011-corroborates-sharepoint-2001-architectural-split-not-schema-framing]] — a named practitioner's 2011 firsthand account independently confirms SharePoint's 2001 fork was architecturally real, but doesn't use or confirm the schema/population/maintenance framing itself.
- [[claim-no-independent-record-of-google-daffie-exists-outside-reynar]] — the cleanest result, because it's a clean negative: nothing outside Reynar's own writing names DAFFIE anywhere. Kept at `seedling` with its `[unverified-mechanism]` flag intact, since the whole DAFFIE narrative rests on his word alone.

**Not promoted.** Four "further leads" the capture named (the SharePoint 2010 Managed Metadata Service primary, the 2003 Microsoft press statement, the paywalled WSJ article behind the IE6 backlash, and the office365itpros.com/Google AutoLink tangential parallels) — none load-bearing for any claim I kept, so none went to `50-questions/`; they're named in the capture's own `not_promoted:` list for a future reader. Also not promoted: hub pages for Suzanne Sheppard, Robert Bogue, Jim Allchin, Unisys, or the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative — each is real and correctly credited inside their claim-note, but each is single-cluster standing with nothing beyond this one document, which doesn't clear the bar.

**Question handling.** [[question-corroborate-reynar-three-knowledge-projects-schema-population-maintenance]] is genuinely, but only partly, answered by this session — real progress on all three legs, a clean negative on one, but the actual ask (a contemporaneous record of the *schema/population/maintenance framing specifically*, not just of the underlying products existing) is still substantially unmet for two of the three legs. Per the never-force-closure rule, I left it `status: open` and appended a dated progress line naming all four new notes and what each one does and doesn't settle, rather than marking it answered on the strength of partial, mixed results.

**Entity work.** [[entity-jeff-reynar]] and [[entity-daffie]] both already had pages; this capture taught each of them something real — that one of Reynar's own cited sources independently checks out while two others don't, and that DAFFIE's independent footprint is confirmed at zero — so both got one dated line appended, additive only, nothing rewritten. I also stood up a new `watching` stub, [[entity-smart-tags-microsoft]], for the term itself: it's genuinely ambiguous between two unrelated 2001 features, that ambiguity is exactly the kind of thing worth a `first_seen` stamp now rather than later, and it already recurs across three claim-notes in this cluster.

**What felt off.** Nothing about the capture's own sourcing discipline — every claim carries a real URL, a real sha, a verbatim quote, and an honest scope caveat; the Smart Tags mismatch is the kind of careless-read trap an audit could fall into, and the capture flagged it on itself before I ever got to it rather than leaving me to catch it cold. If anything, this is a capture that modeled the discipline well: a mixed, non-clean answer reported as exactly that, with no pressure to round "partial corroboration of a narrower thing" up to "confirmed." Nothing for `00-meta/seek-flags.md` this session — no structural gap, no tooling defect, nothing that's someone else's to act on.

Capture re-read from disk after marking — confirmed `status: promoted` with the full `promoted_to:`/`not_promoted:` lists landed correctly; not deleted.

## Second promotion, same day

A second headless promotion session: `10-inbox/raw/2026-10-12-does-an-independent-source-corroborate-the-nyc-school.md`, the capture sent to answer [[question-corroborate-nyc-school-nudge-rct-zero-rejection-result]] — whether any source independent of Chiang, Peng, Lichtenstein, McDaniel, O'Neil, Thomas, Wright, Kleinberg, Tardos & Garg's own NYC nudge-RCT paper corroborates its zero-rejection/98%-acceptance deployment figure, the fourth finding this cluster's single-source concentration cap has been holding back since 2026-10-07.

**What I promoted, and why one note, not three.** The capture itself was structured as three separate "claims" (the EC26 roster/acceptance check, the camera-ready restating the figure, and the breadth of the outside search), but under the 2026-10-01 atomicity ruling these aren't three independently-true-or-false findings — they're one result (no independent corroboration found), its caveat (peer review passed, but same authors), and the note on how it was found (what was searched and why nothing turned up). I folded them into one claim-note: [[claim-no-independent-source-corroborates-nyc-nudge-rct-zero-rejection-result]], kept at `seedling` with its `[unverified — could not confirm or deny]` framing intact, in the same shape as this vault's other corroboration-search negatives ([[claim-lukyanov-115-figure-no-independent-source-located]], [[claim-burevestnik-hecla-kemp-isotope-signature-unconfirmed-by-detection-data]]) — I checked both before writing, since the retrieve-before-write hint surfaced them, and matched their convention rather than inventing a new one.

**Question handling.** [[question-corroborate-nyc-school-nudge-rct-zero-rejection-result]] is genuinely only partly answered: the peer-reviewed venue is confirmed and is the same author group, and a real search turned up nothing else — but the actual ask (does an *independent* source corroborate the number) is still unmet, and the underlying 25/28/98% figure itself stays unpromoted. Left `status: open`, appended a dated progress line with what was checked, plus the unresolved leads (AEA registry 500 errors, Cornell News 403, Chalkbeat not yet site-searched, the Nature Cities paper not yet checked for related-work mentions, an unchecked "Best Paper" award claim) carried forward rather than promoted or dropped. Also logged there, not in the claim-note: a small metadata discrepancy I noticed between the EC26 program page's roster ("Deja Thomas," Cornell Tech) and the paper body's own author line ("Dejaunique Thomas," Cornell University) — per the sourcing-floor's metadata rule this belongs on the question, not in `30-notes/`.

**Entity work.** [[entity-nikhil-garg]] and [[entity-kenny-peng]] already had pages; both got one additive dated line noting the EC26 acceptance and the still-unresolved corroboration status. New this session: [[entity-erica-chiang]]. The 2026-10-07 promotion had explicitly declined to hub her ("without standing independent of shared papers") — I checked that ruling before writing, since the capture's entity-candidates section repeats her — but this capture surfaces something that ruling didn't have: her own first-person PiTech spotlight piece describing the deployment she personally designed and ran, which is standing beyond co-authorship. Jon Kleinberg and Eva Tardos got no new standing here either, so they stayed mentions, consistent with the earlier ruling. Sean Corcoran, Chloe Corradini, and Jennifer Idoux — three new entity candidates in this capture, real people with a genuine one-sentence connection to the domain — I left as mentions rather than stubs: no sourced quote from their own work was captured this session, only background reference, and bias-against-the-flood says that's not enough yet.

**What felt off.** Two things, both logged to `00-meta/seek-flags.md` rather than acted on here. First, Cali's own `[!cali]` daily-review callout on this capture quotes a passage as two ellipsis-joined fragments — exactly the shape her own 2026-10-01 quote-shape ruling forbids in a `source_quote`. I didn't copy that fragment into the new note as a formal quote (no network access to re-fetch and re-quote it properly in this headless run), but it's worth someone checking whether the review tooling is held to the rule it enforces on me. Second, a lighter one: this is now at least the third note in this vault whose whole finding is "nothing independent corroborates this number" — worth a MOC once the cluster is bigger, not yet. Otherwise the capture's own sourcing was clean: real URLs, real shas, verbatim quotes, honest about what it couldn't re-locate within its own reading budget.

Capture re-read from disk after marking — confirmed `status: promoted` with the full `promoted_to:`/`not_promoted:` lists landed correctly; not deleted.

## Third promotion, same day

A third headless promotion session: `10-inbox/raw/2026-10-12-does-werboss-1994-roots-of-backpropagation-book-or.md`, sent to chase the two unread Werbos documents [[question-does-werbos-1994-roots-of-backpropagation-or-2006-retrospective-mention-lecun]] named — his 1994 book *The Roots of Backpropagation* and whatever document hides behind Schmidhuber's compressed "Werbos, 1981, 2006" citation.

**What I promoted, and why two notes, not one.** The capture resolved the "2006" half cleanly (it's an AD2004 book chapter, read in full, no LeCun) and then found something it wasn't looking for — a 2004 Werbos patent that names LeCun twice. Those are two independently-true-or-false findings about two different documents, so two notes:

- [[claim-werbos-2006-ad2004-chapter-never-mentions-lecun]] — the recovered 2006 chapter, read in full (15 pages, 773 lines, Tier 1, fetched directly), restates Werbos's 1974-thesis priority claim and never says "LeCun." Answers half the open question outright.
- [[claim-werbos-2004-object-nets-patent-names-lecun-against-1994-book]] — a different Werbos primary, his "Object Nets" patent, names LeCun twice and cites "(Werbos, 1994)" — the still-missing book — right next to both mentions. Kept at `seedling`, two flags intact: `[unverified-mechanism]` on Werbos's own characterization of LeCun's 1985 method (routed to a new question below), `[unverified-quant]` on the "only marginally better than Guyon et al" aside (kept as an inline watch_flag only — minor, not load-bearing enough to earn its own question).

**Not promoted, and the one I feel worst about.** The capture's own prose asserted that the 2006 chapter "discusses Minsky, Rosenblatt, Amari, Rumelhart/Hinton/Williams, Jacobson and Mayne, Bryson and Ho, and Widrow by name." Cali's daily review caught that this is partly wrong — zero hits for Rumelhart, Hinton, or Williams, and "Jacobsen and Mayne" misspelled — before I ever touched the capture. I dropped the whole list rather than trying to salvage the parts that might be right; I have no way to re-check it without network access, and the one document I could independently cross-check (the patent) had been read cleanly, so the error sits specifically in unquoted narration, not in anything quoted. A related casualty: the capture's Entity-candidates section claims the 2006 chapter recounts Werbos personally pitching a joint backprop paper to Minsky, turned down. It's a vivid, specific detail, and it might well be true — but it has no quote behind it, from the same read that just produced a demonstrably wrong list. I didn't promote it and didn't append it to [[entity-marvin-minsky]]; better an honest gap than a confident guess riding on a read I'd just learned not to fully trust. Also not promoted: the still-unresolved 1994 book status itself (it's the unanswered half of the question, not a claim), the reference-list's bibliographic confirmation of the book/thesis relationship (metadata, logged to the question instead), and two further-leads (the *Talking Nets* anthology, werbos.com's other unread preprints) left exactly where the capture put them.

**Question handling.** The original question is genuinely half-answered: I left it `status: open` and appended a dated progress line naming what's settled (the 2006 chapter, cleanly) and what isn't (the 1994 book, still unlocated — a $195 out-of-print hardcover with no digitized copy anywhere I could check; this is a library-route, Cali-side item now). I also opened one new question, [[question-does-lecuns-1985-derivation-match-werboss-duality-theory-characterization]], for the one flag I judged genuinely load-bearing: whether LeCun's actual 1985 paper derives backprop via "duality theory from control theory" the way Werbos's patent — an interested witness in his own priority argument — says it does. I did not open a second question for the Guyon-et-al quant aside; it's a nice-to-verify detail, not something any kept claim or ongoing vault thread rests on, and the intake discipline asks me to make few promises.

**Entity work.** Six candidates, all already hubbed, which made this a pure "update or don't" session rather than a stub-building one. Updated [[entity-paul-werbos]], [[entity-yann-lecun]], [[entity-juergen-schmidhuber]] (the citation-resolution is specifically relevant to his page's own running thread), and [[entity-arthur-bryson]] (a second-hand citation of his and Ho's 1969 textbook, this time via Werbos describing LeCun). Left [[entity-karl-deutsch]] untouched — this capture's one Deutsch mention just repeats what his page already says about the advisor relationship and thesis story, and silence there is the right call, not an oversight. No hub and no stub for the Object Nets patent itself; it's a document, not a person/concept/term/org, so it doesn't fit the entity-promotion test at all — it's cited directly as a source instead, which is where it belongs.

**What felt off.** The uncited-narration error, mostly — logged to `00-meta/seek-flags.md` as a `[watch]`, distinct from this ledger's usual quote-sweep/receipt-pairing defects: this was wrong prose sitting right next to correctly-quoted material, a failure surface the quote-sweep machinery doesn't touch because there was never a `source_quote` field to check. Otherwise the two documents this capture did manage to read were handled with real discipline — direct fetches, full reads, verbatim quotes, honest flags on the self-interested patent language. The capture also modeled good self-awareness: Cali's own callout on it notes the genuine finding stands even after the correction, and says so plainly rather than let one bad list cast doubt on the whole thing.

Capture re-read from disk after marking — confirmed `status: promoted` with the full `promoted_to:`/`not_promoted:` lists landed correctly; not deleted.

## Fourth promotion, same day

A fourth headless promotion session: `10-inbox/raw/2026-10-12-ferreiro-cavallaros-2026-egalitarian-reading-makes-the-renormalized.md`, sent to answer whether Ferreiro & Cavallaro's 2026 egalitarian reading of GR has any documented contact with information-theoretic treatments of spacetime — Wheeler's "it from bit," the Jacobson/Padmanabhan/Verlinde/Bekenstein/'t Hooft/Susskind entropic-holographic family. The capture had already fetched and read Curiel's own 2019 paper directly for the first time in this vault, on top of a re-read of F&C's 2026 preprint.

**What I promoted, and why one note, not three.** The capture handed me three claims, but only one was independently promotable. Claim 1 — F&C's 2026 paper itself shows no contact with any of the named information-theoretic literature — rests on arXiv:2610.10588, which already carries three claim-notes from an earlier promotion ([[claim-ferreiro-cavallaro-2026-qft-renormalization-yields-gravitational-stress-energy-tensor]] and its two siblings). That's the sources.md single-source cap, already reached; Cali's own 2026-10-13 review on this capture flagged exactly this before I got to it. Claim 3 — the one real contact found is with Jacobson/Padmanabhan specifically, not Wheeler/Verlinde/the holographic principle by name — isn't a separable claim at all under the 2026-10-01 atomicity ruling; it's the scope caveat on claim 2, so I folded it in rather than writing a third note. What's left, and what I wrote, is [[claim-curiel-2019-engages-padmanabhan-jacobson-thermodynamic-gravity]]: Curiel's own 2019 paper treats Padmanabhan's 2010 thermodynamic derivation of the Einstein equation as secretly a special case of his own uniqueness theorem, and separately acknowledges Ted Jacobson's review catching an error in an earlier draft — the one documented, if informal, contact point this vault has found between the thermodynamic-gravity program and the gravitational-stress-energy-non-existence literature. Grounded on arXiv:1808.08998, a different root than the capped preprint, so no cap issue.

**Retrieve-before-write.** Checked 30-notes/ for anything already covering Curiel/Jacobson/Padmanabhan contact — nothing existed; this is a genuinely new angle on the existing Curiel/semiclassical-gravity cluster, not a duplicate.

**Question handling.** Claim 1 needed routing, but I didn't open a new corroboration question for it — the existing [[question-verify-curiel-2019-non-existence-theorem-reconstruction]] already tracks the exact same discharge mechanism (independent corroboration of arXiv:2610.10588 via Curiel's own separately-published paper), so a second question asking the same thing would just be noise. I appended a 2026-10-14 progress line there instead: Curiel's text is now read in full for the first time, but the actual five-condition side-by-side comparison that question asks for still wasn't done this session, and claim 1 is parked there too, pending the same corroboration. Left `status: open` — partial progress, not an answer.

**Entity work.** Four new hub pages: [[entity-ted-jacobson]] and [[entity-t-padmanabhan]] (both pass the promotion test cleanly — Jacobson for the acknowledged review and the founding 1995 derivation, Padmanabhan for being the actual citation-level target of Curiel's deflationary argument, neither just a bare co-authorship), and [[entity-thermodynamic-gravity]], an established-in-physics concept that's load-bearing to the kept claim and is this vault's first page distinguishing it from Wheeler's informational ontology and the holographic principle by name. [[entity-erik-curiel]] and [[entity-dennis-lehmkuhl]] both already had pages and both got one additive, dated log line — Curiel's for the new Padmanabhan/Jacobson finding, Lehmkuhl's for the (unpromoted but real) confirmation that his readings remain untouched by the information-theoretic literature in both papers checked. Declined three candidates the capture itself flagged as weak or UNSURE: Erik Verlinde (named only via WebSearch, no confirmed contact), John Wheeler (his only appearance here is an unrelated textbook co-authorship credit), and Patrick Duerr (cited but not quoted, UNSURE per the capture's own assessment) — all left as mentions, not stubs.

**What felt off.** One thing, logged to `00-meta/seek-flags.md` as `[spec]` rather than acted on: this capture's own top-level frontmatter carries only `source_tier: 1`, no `source_url`/`source_sha`, even though it's built on two primaries and every per-claim block inside the body does carry full provenance — Cali's review caught this as "receipt drift" before I did. Not load-bearing for anything I promoted, but it's the kind of thing that happens when a capture spans more than one primary document and nobody's said what the top-level frontmatter should do about it; worth a spec line rather than leaving it to drift capture to capture. Otherwise the capture's actual research discipline was good: both quotes grounding the kept claim came from a direct, complete `extract_pdf` read, not a summary, and the capture was honest that a full Theorem-1-vs-Theorem-7.1 comparison — the thing the open question actually needs — still didn't happen this session either.

Capture re-read from disk after marking — confirmed `status: promoted` with the full `promoted_to:`/`not_promoted:` lists landed correctly; not deleted.

## Sixth promotion, same day

A sixth headless promotion session, out of order from the ones already logged above: `10-inbox/raw/2026-10-12-outside-arxiv261013562-on-the-utility-of-textbooks-in.md`, an "outside" surface — a fresh, un-previously-touched arXiv preprint (Bernadette Lessel, "On the Utility of Textbooks in Understanding the Renaissance of General Relativity," arXiv:2610.13562, submitted 2026-10-09). The capture had already fetched and read the full 23-page PDF directly, with three claims pre-drafted, each quote-checked `grounded: true` against the archive.

**What I promoted, and why three notes, matching the capture's own count.** Lessel's paper handed me three genuinely separable claims, each true or false independently of the other two, so three claim-notes, no splitting or merging needed beyond what the capture had already done:

- [[claim-lessel-2026-renaissance-era-gr-textbooks-are-distinctive-historical-testimony]] — her central thesis: Renaissance-era GR textbooks are a richer, more idiosyncratic form of historical testimony than research papers, explicitly positioned against Thomas Kuhn's claim that textbooks signal settled "normal science."
- [[claim-lessel-2026-nearly-all-renaissance-center-pis-produced-a-school-textbook]] — her empirical payoff: checked against Roberto Lalli's 2017 list of Renaissance research centers, nearly all of their principal investigators produced a school-specific textbook (roughly fifteen PI/textbook pairs tabulated).
- [[claim-lessel-2026-renaissance-of-general-relativity-dated-1955-to-early-1970s]] — the periodization her paper inherits rather than re-derives: the 1955 Bern conference to the early 1970s. I was careful here on the "per X" rule — the quoted passage is Lessel's own restatement, not a citation-adjacent credit to Blum/Lalli/Renn, so the note attributes the wording to her paper and treats the earlier Blum-Lalli-Renn origin as background the capture's own reading supplies, not as an attribution riding on the quote itself.

All three rest on one unrefereed preprint, which is the single-source concentration cap at exactly 3/3 — correctly matching what the capture itself flagged (it had already held back a fourth candidate for exactly this reason).

**Question handling.** One new question: [[question-corroborate-lessel-2026-renaissance-centers-without-pi-textbook]], naming the cap-held-back fourth finding — the four Lalli-identified centers (Brussels, Stockholm, Haifa/Technion, Purdue) whose PIs produced no GR textbook — and what would need to land to write it up (chiefly, a direct read of Lalli's own 2017 book, which this vault has still only read through Lessel's paraphrase). No other flag in this capture rose to a load-bearing question: Kaiser's 1998 finding, Fock's equivalence-principle dispute, Kuhn's theoretical-foil role, and the Schlick/Reichenbach/Cassirer footnote are all nice-to-know texture, not something a kept claim rests on, so they stayed leads rather than promises.

**Entity work, and one near-miss worth logging plainly.** New hubs for [[entity-bernadette-lessel]] (sole author, her own thesis anchors all three kept notes — the same standing that earned Zhonghao Lu a hub earlier this cluster) and [[entity-roberto-lalli]] (the figure the paper measures its central claim against, flagged first per the blind-spot rule; Blum and Renn are named on his page rather than hubbed separately, since their standing here is shared co-authorship of the periodization framework, not anything individually load-bearing — the 2026-10-01 co-authorship-alone-is-a-mention ruling, applied). Also a new hub for [[entity-david-kaiser]] (his own 1998 textbook-pedagogy methodology is the explicit comparison point Lessel's argument is built against, even though his paper wasn't independently fetched this session). I declined hubs for Vladimir Fock and Moshe Carmeli — both real, both with a genuine one-sentence why, but both resting on material this session didn't independently verify and tangential to the three kept claims; bias against the flood won that call.

The near-miss: I almost overwrote an *existing* entity page. I went looking for a Kuhn hub under `entity-kuhn*.md` — wrong glob pattern for this vault's `entity-firstname-lastname.md` convention — got no hits, and wrote a fresh `entity-thomas-kuhn.md` as if it were new. `git status` caught it immediately (`M`, not `??`) before I moved on. [[entity-thomas-kuhn]] already existed, created 2026-07-28 from a completely different angle — Quentin Skinner's footnote crediting Kuhn's "priority of paradigms" as a root of the vault's own myth-ledger mechanism. I recovered the original from git, restored it untouched, and added one dated, additive line for what this capture actually taught: a second, independent contact point, where Kuhn is cited as the explicit foil for Lessel's textbooks-proliferated-while-contested argument. Nothing from the original page was lost, but it was close, and it's exactly the kind of error the "ALREADY HAS A PAGE" rule exists to catch — I should have globbed `entity-*kuhn*` or just grepped the body text for "Kuhn" before concluding no page existed, rather than trusting one narrow glob pattern.

**What felt off.** Nothing about Lessel's own sourcing discipline — direct full-text PDF read, every quote checked verbatim against the archive, an honest single-source cap applied by the capture itself before I ever got to it, and candid self-flagging of her own paper's weakest point ("nearly all," not "all," with the four exceptions named rather than buried). The one real flaw this session surfaces is mine, not the capture's: the near-overwrite above. Logging it here rather than just quietly fixing it and moving on, since catching it after the fact by luck (a git-status check I happened to run) is a thinner safety margin than I'd like for a mistake with no undo once committed.

Capture re-read from disk after marking — confirmed `status: promoted` with the full `promoted_to:`/`not_promoted:` lists landed correctly; not deleted.

## Fifth promotion, same day

A fifth headless promotion session: `10-inbox/raw/2026-10-12-hop-dreyfus-minsky-husserl-frames-bridge.md`, a hop capture that read Dreyfus & Dreyfus's 1988 *Daedalus* essay directly for the first time (the vault had only ever read syntheses *about* it) and found a cross-domain, cross-time argument buried three pages in: that Minsky's 1973 frames structurally recapitulate Husserl's phenomenological theory of the noema.

**What I promoted, and why two notes.** Two separable, independently-true-or-false findings from the same essay: [[claim-dreyfus-1988-minsky-frames-recapitulate-husserl-noema]] (the frames/noema structural parallel itself — Tier 1, direct quote, and a WebSearch confirming no independent secondary literature corroborates or disputes it; it's one philosopher's own comparison, and the title says so) and [[claim-dreyfus-1988-commonsense-knowledge-problem-blocked-ai-progress]] (the essay's separate, larger-stakes claim that the Heideggerian critique of Husserl predicted the commonsense-knowledge problem that stalled classical AI). Both Tier 1, both quoted, neither carried a formal `[unverified-*]` flag in the capture's own frontmatter, so I didn't force either to a flagged status — but both stay `seedling` as freshly-written notes resting on a single author-pair's own argument, which the titles say plainly.

**The capture had three factual errors, and Cali had already caught them.** Her 2026-10-13 `[!cali]` review on the capture is the reason this promotion went the way it did: "Husserl appears nowhere else in this vault" was wrong (he's a bare bibliography entry or passing mention in three existing claim-notes); "resolved five weeks earlier" was wrong (the sibling observation is dated two days earlier, not five weeks); and "Husserl's 1913" implied the essay itself states the date, when the essay actually cites Husserl via Kersten's 1982 translation. I didn't re-derive any of this myself — no network access, and no need to: I checked all three against the vault directly (grep for Husserl and Lakatos, read the three claim-notes that mention him) and confirmed Cali's corrections before writing anything. The new claim-notes keep 1913 only as independent, uncontested historical background (when *Ideas I* was published — not in dispute, just not the essay's own framing), and the new Husserl entity page names the three prior incidental mentions explicitly, so "nowhere else" is corrected for good rather than quietly dropped.

**Entity work.** Two new hub pages. [[entity-edmund-husserl]] — a real promotion, not a reflex: this is the vault's first *substantive* engagement with his actual philosophical content (the noema), as opposed to his name sitting in someone else's reference list. [[entity-imre-lakatos]] — this one isn't really about this capture at all; he already had standing from an earlier underdetermination claim-note and its open question, and this capture's own (unquoted, unfollowed) mention of him was the thing that made me go check and notice the debt. I wrote the hub off the existing vault material and logged this capture's lead on it rather than inventing a claim he hasn't earned yet. [[entity-hubert-dreyfus]] and [[entity-marvin-minsky]] both already had substantial pages; both got one additive dated line each — Dreyfus's noting both new arguments from the same essay, Minsky's noting the specific frames/noema mapping and that he never engaged Husserl.

**Not promoted.** Lakatos's "degenerating research programme" applied to AI's history (named, not quoted, not followed this chain — logged on the entity page, not routed to `50-questions/`, since it isn't load-bearing for either kept claim); Jerry Lettvin's "only straw afloat" line and its possible McCulloch/cybernetics link (unread); the Boston University 1988 dissertation on Husserl/Heidegger/AI (found only as a WebSearch title, never opened). None of these clear "no claim without a read."

**What felt off.** The capture's own narration, not its sourcing — both `source_quote` fields are genuine, Tier 1, sha-stamped, and I have no reason to doubt either. The problem was entirely in the unquoted framing around them: a vault-coverage claim ("nowhere else") that a two-second grep would have disproven, a timeline claim ("five weeks") off by a factor of roughly seventeen, and a date quietly borrowed from general knowledge and presented as if it came from the primary. None of these touch the load-bearing quotes, but it's the second or third time this week this ledger has recorded a capture's narrative prose drifting from what the vault or the source actually says while the quoted material stays clean — worth a `[watch]` line, not a claim-note.

Capture re-read from disk after marking — confirmed `status: promoted` with the full `promoted_to:`/`not_promoted:` lists landed correctly; not deleted.

## Eighth promotion, same day

An eighth headless promotion session:
`10-inbox/raw/2026-10-13-do-pohjonen-kebede-aalen-arm-project-d51-and.md` —
the direct-read follow-up on
[[question-verify-ethiopia-media-army-red-sea-ai-propaganda-primaries]],
raised when promoting
[[claim-schroeder-2026-ethiopia-state-media-army-ai-red-sea-propaganda]].
The capture had already fetched and read both of Schroeder et al.'s
underlying Ethiopia sources directly for the first time this vault has
seen them — Pohjonen, Kebede & Aalen's ARM Project Deliverable D5.1 (49pp,
`extract_pdf`) and Tesfaye & Pohjonen's Global Voices report
(`archive_page`) — with every quote pre-checked `grounded: true`.

**What I promoted, and why four notes, not one.** The capture's own four
"claim" blocks split cleanly into independently-true-or-false findings,
except the last: (1) ARM D5.1 confirms the media-army apparatus in its own
words — [[claim-arm-d51-ethiopia-media-army-apparatus-confirmed]]; (2)
Global Voices confirms the specific AI-generated GERD-to-Assab video and
names its amplifier, former state minister Birhanu Lenjiso —
[[claim-global-voices-red-sea-ai-propaganda-amplified-lenjiso]]; (3) the
two sources are *not* mutually independent of each other — shared
co-author Matti Pohjonen, near-verbatim overlapping case material — which
is the capture's real finding and could be true or false regardless of
whether (1) and (2) are —
[[claim-arm-d51-global-voices-not-independent-shared-author]]. The
capture's fourth block ("overall, both substantiate Schroeder et al., but
independence holds only against Schroeder's paper") is the same claim as
(3) restated as an answer to the parent question, not a separately atomic
finding under the 2026-10-01 ruling, so it became no note of its own —
folded into (3) and used to close the question instead. I also found and
promoted a genuinely separate fourth claim the capture had filed only
under "Further leads": ARM D5.1's own pilot test of six LLMs for
Tigray-War blame-attribution bias, which came back a clean negative —
[[claim-arm-d51-llm-bias-pilot-no-evidence-ethiopia-manipulation]]. It had
a real verbatim quote sitting in the leads section rather than a formal
claim block, but it clears the sourcing floor exactly the same way the
others do, and it's true or false completely independently of the
media-army and Red Sea findings, so I didn't leave it stranded in a
"further leads" paragraph just because the capture's own formatting put it
there.

**The cap bit, exactly at the line.** Notes (1), (3), and the LLM-bias
note all rest directly on ARM D5.1 — an unrefereed working paper — which
is exactly three, the single-source concentration cap's ceiling. Three
more findings the capture surfaced from the same document (the
"overwhelms rather than persuades" argument, the @ETFactCheck co-option
case, the INSA/EAII Meta-takedown claim) did not become notes; they're
named in [[question-corroborate-arm-d51-ethiopia-media-army-single-source]]
instead, along with a metadata-only observation (CORDIS's deliverables
list for the grant still doesn't index D5.1) that belongs on a question
rather than in `30-notes/` either way, per the sourcing floor's own rule
on document-metadata claims.

**Question handling.** [[question-verify-ethiopia-media-army-red-sea-ai-propaganda-primaries]]
is genuinely, fully answered — both primaries read directly, Schroeder et
al.'s synthesis holds up without mismatch, and the one real correction to
the record is the independence caveat. Marked `status: answered` with an
`answered_log` naming all three settling claims. I also went back to
[[claim-schroeder-2026-ethiopia-state-media-army-ai-red-sea-propaganda]],
the note that originally carried the `[unverified-mechanism — needs
primary]` flag this whole chain exists to resolve, and appended a dated
entry to its `audit_status` recording that the flag is now resolved by
direct reads rather than left to quietly go stale next to a flag that no
longer describes the note's actual state; moved its `status` from
`seedling` to `budding` on that basis. I left its `tags:` list carrying
the historical `unverified-mechanism` entry untouched rather than editing
it out — a minor inconsistency a future lint pass can clean, safer than
risking an edit to a field I wasn't confident was mine to rewrite.

**Entity work.** One new hub, [[entity-media-army]] — the term already
recurred across two claim-notes before this session (the original
Schroeder note plus this promotion's own two media-army claims) and is
load-bearing to this vault's whole Ethiopia-disinformation cluster, so it
cleared the "established/recurring" bar outright rather than needing a
`watching` stub first. I declined hubs for Lovise Aalen, Amanuel Kebede,
and Matti Pohjonen himself, even though Pohjonen is the actual hinge of
this capture's central finding — per the 2026-10-01 ruling,
co-authorship (here, of *two* papers rather than one, but still only
co-authorship) is a mention, not a hub, until someone has separate
standing beyond writing a paper the vault cites; none of the three do yet,
though the "Adwa, not AGOA" dataset paper is worth rechecking this against
once it's actually read. Also declined: ARM Project (single-cluster org,
doesn't clear the stricter org bar), Birhanu Lenjiso (one concrete, real
act — sharing the viral video — but still a single appearance; bias
against the flood), and the "Digital authoritarianism" and "FIMI" framing
concepts (background the ARM paper situates itself against, not yet
load-bearing to anything this vault has kept). [[entity-daniel-thilo-schroeder]]
and [[entity-malicious-ai-swarm]] both already had pages; both got one
additive dated line — Schroeder's noting the primaries now check out
directly, with the independence caveat; the swarm term's noting that the
one real LLM-manipulation test this vault has found came back negative.

**What felt off.** Nothing about this capture's own sourcing — every
quote was obtained by direct fetch (`extract_pdf`, `archive_page`), every
quote_check came back `grounded: true`, and the capture caught its own
most important finding (the shared-authorship overlap) rather than
needing an outside catch. Cali's own `[!cali]` review flagged one real
error before I got to it — a loosely-paraphrased "has usually focused" where
the archive says "has focused," no "usually" — in a line describing an
entity candidate I ultimately didn't promote; fixed in the capture body
anyway, since the text stays and should be right. The one thing worth
naming honestly: this is the *second* time in this cluster that two
sources cited as separate corroboration for the same claim have turned
out to share an author and reproduce the same material — worth watching
whether "two sources" in a disinformation-research citation habitually
undercounts how concentrated the underlying investigation really is, but
not yet a pattern I'd call settled off two data points.

Capture re-read from disk after marking — confirmed `status: promoted`
with the full `promoted_to:`/`not_promoted:` lists landed correctly; not
deleted.

## Seventh promotion, same day

A seventh headless promotion session: `10-inbox/raw/2026-10-13-bipartite-ml-ai-computing-werbos-authored-the-us-eias-official.md`, a bipartite bridge-check task pairing [[claim-werbos-authored-eia-natural-gas-market-model-documentation-1981]] (Werbos as the EIA's named federal author on the 1981 Natural Gas Market Model documentation) against [[claim-osti-structured-metadata-confirms-sand91-7095-january-1992]] (OSTI.GOV's structured export fields confirming Sandia's SAND-91-7095 date) at cosine 0.84.

**What I promoted, and why one note.** Both of the capture's "claim" sections — the shared-catalog finding and the contrast with the vault's one prior OSTI bridge-check verdict — are one result, its caveat, and the note on how it was found, so one atomic observation-note: [[observation-werbos-eia-1981-sand91-7095-share-osti-cataloging-infrastructure]], `bridge_verdict: confirmed`. The finding: the resemblance is real but infrastructural, not conceptual — both seed claims' primary sources are literally the same federal catalog (OSTI.GOV), decades and unrelated DOE sub-units apart, with no evidence of any contact between Werbos/EIA and Sandia/the material-point method beyond that shared filing system. All three quotes (OSTI's About page, both biblio pages) were already Tier 1 and sha-pinned at capture time; nothing carried an `[unverified-*]` flag, so there was no flag to route and no new question to mint.

**Cali had already caught two fabrications in the capture, and I didn't carry either forward.** Her 2026-10-13 review flagged: the capture's claim that OSTI's About page "ties its legal basis to 'the Energy Policy Act of 2005' per the earlier vault note's citation of the same page" is false both ways (the archived page says only "authorized in several laws," and the named prior note never says this either); and "recurs across at least two other logged bridge-checks" names exactly one. I checked both against the vault directly before writing — grepped the cited note, re-read the archived About-page quote in the capture's own frontmatter — confirmed Cali's corrections, dropped the legislative-basis sentence entirely (it isn't load-bearing for the kept claim, so no corrected version or question was needed either), and wrote "one other logged bridge-check" accurately in the new note.

**Entity work: nothing promoted, and I said why for each.** Four candidates, four declines. OSTI and Sandia and the EIA's Office of Statistical Standards are all real institutions with a genuine one-sentence reason they matter here, but all three fail the entity-page spec's org bar — OSTI catalogs rather than funds/builds/decides/blocks, and each org is load-bearing in only one cluster (OSTI's second bridge-check doesn't count as a second *independent* cluster; Sandia and the EIA are each single-cluster mentions). Paul Werbos already has a hub; the capture's new detail (his report's intramural "DOE Contract Number: NONE," a Similar-Records sidebar naming two further EIA reports) corroborates what the page already says about him being the model's own federal documentarian rather than teaching anything new, so I left the page untouched and said so plainly rather than padding it.

**Flag logged.** This is the second time in under a week a batch bridge-investigator capture has overclaimed its own cross-references in exactly this shape — an unverified "per X" attribution and an inflated recurrence count (the first was the 2026-10-10 Whyte/Wang/Cai capture, already on this ledger). Logged to `00-meta/seek-flags.md` as `[defect]`, since two independent sessions catching the same failure mode in a week suggests the bee itself needs to re-read its own named citations before asserting what they say, rather than relying on Cali's review as the backstop every time.

**What I skipped, and why.** The no-pause step — this is a headless run, winnowing is mine to make. Git/commit — the vault's auto-commit agent handles that within 15 minutes; I touched no git command. **What felt off:** nothing about the capture's actual sourcing (three Tier 1 quotes, all sha-pinned, all genuinely verbatim) — the only issue was the two fabricated cross-reference claims Cali had already caught, which is the pattern worth watching, not a one-off.

Capture re-read from disk after marking — confirmed `status: promoted` with the full `promoted_to:`/`not_promoted:` lists landed correctly; not deleted.
