Bartlett/serial-reproduction ↔ model-collapse intersection found none that
operationalizes Bartlett's three named distortion categories — assimilation,
leveling, sharpening — as distinct, measurable collapse metrics. The
resemblance is in active informal use; the mapping is not.

Two LLM papers whose framing most directly echoes Bartlett's serial-reproduction
paradigm were fetched and checked: "LLM as a Broken Telephone: Iterative
Generation Distorts Information" (arXiv:2502.20258) and "LLM Web Dynamics:
Tracing Model Collapse in a Network of LLMs" (arXiv:2506.15690). Neither
mentions Bartlett, "serial reproduction," "assimilation," "leveling," or
"sharpening" at all — despite the first borrowing the "broken telephone"
metaphor that *is* Bartlett's chain-transmission paradigm. This is consistent
