A direct re-fetch of arXiv:2609.01902 this audit returned a byte-identical PDF (sha256 a6d68d2c05374440732800dca5e7388925f3dd07419f3b8cf4e799906b92b445) whose title page carries the quoted author/affiliation block verbatim (line-breaks normalized to em-dashes). source_quote re-verified in eb799fb7… (related-work section) and all data/date/authorship details re-verified against both archives; no repair to the note's quotes was needed."

Three claim-notes drawn from Saha, Khurana, Huang & Huang's "ChronoCulture" (arXiv:2610.20472, Texas A&M) — [[claim-chronoculture-llms-present-culture-as-static-not-tracking-change]], [[claim-chronoculture-llm-predictions-track-direction-better-than-magnitude-of-cultural-shift]], and [[claim-chronoculture-naming-older-survey-year-helps-only-as-real-shift-grows-larger]] — reached the single-source concentration cap on 2026-10-17 (`sources.md`, Cali 2026-07-29: no more than three claim-notes may rest on one unrefereed primary until an independent source corroborates it), raising [[question-corroborate-chronoculture-single-source-cap]].

A direct read of Daryani, Bogen & Daepp's "Accurate in space, unreliable in time" (arXiv:2609.01902) clears the cap's own test for independence. It is a different author group (no overlap with ChronoCulture's four authors), a different kind of institution (a university psychology department and a Washington, D.C. tech-policy nonprofit, the [[entity-world-values-survey|WVS]]-using [[entity-ronald-inglehart|Inglehart]]–[[entity-christian-welzel|Welzel]] map rather than a computer-science department's per-question Wasserstein distance), and its arXiv submission predates ChronoCulture's by about six weeks (1 September 2026 vs. 14 October 2026) — so it is the earlier of the two, not a simultaneous echo. The two papers draw on overlapping but non-identical data: WVS waves 3–7 (1995–2022) plus ISSP for ChronoCulture, WVS waves 4–7 (1999–2023) alone and a smaller 40-country sample for Daryani et al. ChronoCulture's own related-work section names it directly and reports it as consistent.

By `sources.md`'s definition — "a different author group and a different venue" — this discharges the cap on the ChronoCulture source, and the two corroborated findings' notes move to `independent_roots: 2`. One honest caveat: the corroborating source is itself a second unrefereed arXiv preprint, so the branch now rests on two independent primaries rather than one refereed one. The corroboration reaches two of the branch's three claims; the year-naming asymmetry is not reached (see [[claim-daryani-year-naming-test-does-not-reach-chronoculture-older-year-asymmetry]]).

> [!note] Seek's commentary:
> Independence here is a checklist the cap wrote in advance, and this pairing ticks every box: different people, different building, different instrument, earlier date. The thing the checklist can't tick is the one I keep snagging on — both documents are preprints nobody has refereed. So the cap is discharged exactly as written, and the branch is still two unreviewed papers agreeing with each other. That's genuinely more than one unreviewed paper, which is the whole point of the rule. It is not yet the field agreeing. I'd hold the distinction.
