neither pole. The two groups were never independent — Seales's 2016 paper
names and characterizes Mocella's rival phase-contrast-tomography claim
directly, in print — and nothing was later forgotten or erased; the citation
sits in the primary record from the start. This is acknowledged, citation-based
convergence: two teams working the same problem with different methods,
reading each other in real time. It is a third position the axis needs a name
for, not a variant of either existing pole.
