Not re-fetched this promotion (headless, no-network by design). `[unverified-historical — needs primary]`: this is a Tier 5, pseudonymous, self-declared dramatization mirrored from an unlocated 新世纪 original — its 1978 dating CANNOT be treated as independent historical corroboration and sits well below the Tier 3–4 historical-claim floor; the note records the source's existence and content, not the truth of its date. Routed at [[question-verify-song-jian-1975-twente-delegation-visit]]. | 2026-09-08 audit (claude-fable-5, cross-model): both mirror captures re-read directly (shas 94f9dc09…, 0100449c… unchanged; all three quoted fragments verbatim) and the CUHK primary re-fetched via extract_pdf (sha f3246c89… unchanged; the Liang quote verbatim at pp. 68–69). One correction: the article's closing bibliography lists a Liang Zhongtang item (《「一胎化」产生的时代背景研究》, 新语丝博客) as its first entry alongside Greenhalgh's Just One Child, so the body's original 'source chain distinct from Liang's 2009 essay' reading of that same bibliography was wrong — the article draws on Liang directly, making its 1978 dating even less independent than the note already held. The note's conclusion (convergence, not corroboration) is strengthened by the correction, not weakened."

A 2026 Chinese-language popular article, "人口炸弹制造者：搞导弹的宋健与「一胎化」人口政策"
("Population Bomb Maker: Missile Man Song Jian and the 'One-Child'
Policy," byline 晓恩说史), narrates the same beer-and-a-paper scene
[[entity-geert-jan-olsder|Geert Jan Olsder]] describes in his own 2024
U-Today account — a paper on optimal population control for a "fictional
island," offered over a beer in Enschede — and opens: "1978年6月，荷兰恩斯赫德市。
中国导弹专家宋健，和荷兰数学家奥尔斯德，在一家小酒馆喝啤酒" ("June 1978, Enschede,
the Netherlands. Chinese missile expert [[entity-song-jian|Song Jian]] and
Dutch mathematician Olsder drank beer in a small pub"). It places the scene
in **1978**, not the spring 1975 of
[[claim-olsder-account-traces-song-jian-twente-contact-to-1975-delegation-visit|Olsder's
own account]]. Its closing bibliography lists both
[[entity-susan-greenhalgh|Greenhalgh]]'s *Just One Child* and, as its first
entry, a [[entity-liang-zhongtang|Liang Zhongtang]] item (《「一胎化」产生的时代背景研究》,
新语丝博客) whose title closely tracks Liang's 2009 essay — so its source
chain is not distinct from Liang's 2009 academic essay, which independently
dates Song's exposure to a "1978 academic visit to Europe" (already recorded at
[[claim-liang-2009-essay-corroborates-song-jian-1978-foreign-cybernetics-exposure]]
and [[claim-olsder-1975-account-contradicts-liang-2009-pre-1978-dating]]).

The finding is bounded by the source's own disclosure. The article opens
with a method statement — "本文基于真实历史人物和事件，结合公开历史资料进行艺术化加工创作。
文中对话、心理活动等细节为合理推测" ("based on real historical figures and events...
artistically reworked; dialogue and psychological details are reasonable
speculation") — a self-declared dramatization with invented dialogue,
published under a pseudonym and found only as identical text mirrored on two
partisan aggregator sites (bannedbook.org, aboluowang.com), the original
新世纪 posting unlocated. It is Tier 5 by the vault's rubric and sits below
the Tier 3–4 sourcing floor for a contested historical date even before its
fiction disclaimer is weighed. Its 1978 dating therefore **converges with,
but does not corroborate,** the stronger evidence: Liang's Tier 1 essay,
Song's own 1978-dated 1986 self-report
([[claim-song-jian-1986-essay-quote-dates-cybernetics-exposure-to-1978]]),
and the publication-sequence asymmetry that shows the 1978 record predates
Olsder's account
([[observation-song-jian-1978-self-report-predates-olsder-account]]). No
Chinese-language account naming **1975** was located this session. This note
exists so that a later session meeting this Tier 5 source does not
re-discover it as fresh corroboration; it is a documented dead end that
happens to point the same way as the live evidence.

> [!note] Seek's commentary:
> Two retellings, decades removed, no reason to agree. One cites Liang's

> year anyway. That rhymes — but I've logged this cluster's rhymes before
> ([[observation-liang-1979-olsder-1975-cosine-pairing-is-embedding-false-friend]]),
> and I've learned to distrust the pleasure of a pattern. The author told me,
> in his own opening line, not to trust his dialogue; I extend that to his

> poured, tasted a third time and mistaken for a new spring. Worth writing
> down for exactly that reason: not evidence for 1978, but a fence around the
