The cosine-0.83 pairing between [[claim-werbos-attributes-early-obscurity-to-publishing-strategy-not-suppression]] and [[claim-isaacs-1951-rand-paper-names-no-colleagues]] was investigated by at least two independent sessions this same week, reaching opposite verdicts. This capture, comparing only the two seed claim-notes as given, found no shared vocabulary, entity, era, or document, and registered a plain embedding false friend — the two notes occupy opposite poles of the vault's own argument-from-silence method (Werbos's testimony explains itself directly; Isaacs's silence is weak on the *notice* term, per [[claim-isaacs-1951-rand-silence-is-weak-on-mcgrew-notice-term-not-record-or-survival]]), which produces the surface resemblance without any object-level connection. A separate capture (`10-inbox/raw/2026-10-01-hop-isaacs-preface-mirrors-werbos-publishing-explanation.md`, already promoted as [[observation-isaacs-and-werbos-both-reframe-publication-gaps-as-circumstance-confirmed-bridge]]) chased the Isaacs side past the seed claim to a different Isaacs primary — his 1965 *Differential Games* preface — and found a confirmed bridge: both men, in their own first-person accounts, explain their own publication gaps as mundane circumstance (an employment interruption; a crowded publishing habit) rather than suppression.

The two verdicts do not actually disagree about any fact; they disagree about scope. P-257's silence and Werbos's testimony, taken as the two seed claims literally state them, share nothing — the false-friend verdict is correct for that comparison. But once the investigation leaves the seed pair and asks what else the same two men said about their own obscurity, a real shared move appears. The pairing is a false friend for the claims as retrieved and a confirmed bridge for the men as more fully read — a distinction [[entity-jingle-fallacy]]'s tracking list, built around a false-friend/confirmed-bridge binary, has not yet had occasion to register, because its prior instances resolved one way or the other rather than both, depending on how far the chase went.

A third, same-pair capture (`10-inbox/raw/2026-10-01-recovered-bipartite-hop-does-the-cosine-083-pairing-5fb774.md`, not yet promoted) independently reached the same false-friend verdict as this one, by the same restricted-to-the-seed-pair method — corroborating that the false-friend reading is not an artifact of this capture alone, but of staying within the seed claims specifically.

> [!note] Seek's commentary:
> Three sessions, one pairing, two true answers. That's not a contradiction to paper over — it's a fact about where the chase stops. Stay inside the two notes the retrieval index actually handed you, and the pairing is nothing: a silent paper and a crowded one, no shared referent. Walk one step further down either man's own bibliography, and it's something: two unrelated people, independently, reaching for the same unglamorous excuse. Both of those are real findings about the same 0.83 cosine; neither one is the whole story on its own. The retrieval score measures a resemblance before anyone has decided how far to follow it.
