title: "Corbeel & De Haro (2026, arXiv:2610.28185) has hit the single-source concentration cap at three claim-notes — what corroborates the review, and does the parked title-slogan claim deserve the fourth slot?"

As of this promotion (2026-10-21), three claim-notes rest on Corbeel & De
Haro's "Black Holes are about Quantum Information" (arXiv:2610.28185,
submitted 2026-10-20) — an unrefereed preprint, one day old at capture time:

- [[claim-corbeel-de-haro-2026-black-hole-central-dogma-is-unproven-modelling-assumption]]
- [[claim-corbeel-de-haro-2026-hayden-preskill-black-hole-as-information-mirror]]
- [[claim-corbeel-de-haro-2026-page-time-paradox-partially-resolved-replica-wormholes]]

Per `sources.md`'s single-source concentration cap (Cali, 2026-07-29): "No
more than three claim-notes may rest on a single unrefereed primary... until
at least one independent source corroborates it." That count is exactly
three. The cap is reached.

## What this blocked

**Held finding — the title slogan is methodological, not informational
immaterialism.** Corbeel & De Haro state outright that their title slogan,
"Black holes are about quantum information," is not an endorsement of
informational immaterialism (the view, associated with John Wheeler's "It
from bit," that information is a fundamental immaterial substitute for
matter). Instead they frame quantum information theory as an alternative
operational framework of enquiry, following Christopher Timpson's account in
*Quantum Information Theory and the Foundations of Quantum Mechanics*
(2013). Source: Corbeel & De Haro 2026, direct quote at capture time —

> "our slogan 'Black holes are about quantum information' should not be
> understood as claiming a form of information immaterialism: it is a
> conceptual and methodological slogan that reflects the use of quantum
> information in the Hayden–Preskill (and cognate) models."

This is arguably the most skippable of the capture's four Tier-1 claims on
its own technical merits — a self-report of authorial intent rather than a
physical result, and lower-stakes than the three already promoted. But it is
also the one with the strongest existing-vault connection: it directly
counterpoints [[claim-quantum-information-panpsychism-is-dariano-and-faggins-own-term]]
and [[claim-qip-grounds-private-qualia-in-quantum-no-cloning]], which rest
the opposite way — treating quantum information as ontologically load-bearing
for private experience rather than merely a methodological lens. A future
session reopening this branch should weigh that connective value, not just
the raw cap arithmetic, when deciding whether the fourth slot goes here.

## What would discharge the cap

No independent corroboration has been checked for yet — no citation, review
acceptance, or third-party technical engagement with arXiv:2610.28185 by a
different author group in a different venue has been looked for; it is one
day old at capture time, far too recent to expect any. A different path
specific to this source: establishing whether the paper is later accepted to
a refereed venue would take it outside the cap's "unrefereed primary"
category (precedent: [[question-corroborate-costello-2026-arxiv-2601-05050-single-source-cap]]).

Until one of these lands, the branch stays exactly as it is — three notes,
seedling, honest — and no new claim-note sourced from arXiv:2610.28185 alone
should be written, including the held finding above. A future session that
checks publication status or finds independent corroboration should route
back to this question before writing a fourth note.

## Progress log

- 2026-10-21 (this promotion): cap reached at exactly three notes; held
finding recorded above. Neither discharge path checked yet — this is a
same-day capture with no time elapsed for citations or a venue decision.
  Status: open.
- 2026-10-22 (follow-up capture, promoted): checked both discharge paths.
No citation, review acceptance, or third-party technical engagement with
arXiv:2610.28185 by a different author group in a different venue was
found — the paper's own arXiv page lists no journal-ref and no citing
works; a PhilSci-Archive 2025 listing of the same paper (item 27365) shows
the review has circulated in preprint form for roughly a year, not one
day, but is not itself independent engagement; a later paper sharing two
of three authors (De Haro, Cinti & Corbeel, arXiv:2608.26282) cites the
paper but is the same source wearing different clothes per the cap's own
rule. The cap remains undischarged and the held title-slogan finding does
**not** earn the fourth slot on this basis. Separately, this session
found independent Tier-1 primary confirmation (direct reads of Hayden &
Preskill 2007 and Almheiri et al. 2020, now folded into
  [[claim-corbeel-de-haro-2026-hayden-preskill-black-hole-as-information-mirror]]
  and [[claim-corbeel-de-haro-2026-black-hole-central-dogma-is-unproven-modelling-assumption]]
as a second independent root each) and a genuinely new, uncapped claim-note
on the title-slogan's own underlying distinction
  ([[claim-timpson-2004-quantum-information-slogan-is-methodological-not-ontological]],
sourced to Timpson's own thesis rather than to the capped preprint) — none
of which discharges the cap, since corroborating the primaries a review
accurately summarizes is not the same as a third party confirming the
review itself. Still open; still needs either independent third-party
engagement with arXiv:2610.28185 or a change in its publication/refereed
  status.
