Ferreiro and Cavallaro (arXiv:2610.10588, 2026) build their entire semiclassical
argument — [[claim-ferreiro-cavallaro-2026-qft-renormalization-yields-gravitational-stress-energy-tensor]],
and by extension the two readings built on top of it
([[claim-ferreiro-cavallaro-2026-metric-gains-material-significance-egalitarian-reading]],
[[claim-ferreiro-cavallaro-2026-unificationist-dilemma-matter-spacetime-divide]]) —
on a reconstruction, inside their own paper (their Theorem 1, §2.1), of
[[entity-erik-curiel|Erik Curiel]]'s 2019 non-existence theorem: that no tensor
can simultaneously be (1) a concomitant of the Riemann tensor, (2) symmetric
rank-2, (3) weight-zero under a constant rescaling of the metric, (4)
divergence-free when ponderable matter vanishes, and (5) non-zero wherever
curvature is non-zero.

What needs checking: read Curiel, E. (2019), "On Geometric Objects, the
Non-Existence of a Gravitational Stress-Energy Tensor, and the Uniqueness of
the Einstein Field Equation," *Studies in History and Philosophy of Science
Part B* 66, 90–102, directly, and confirm the five conditions and the proof
sketch as Ferreiro & Cavallaro state them actually match Curiel's own text —
particularly condition (3), the weight-zero/dimensional condition, since that
is the exact premise the 2026 paper's whole technical move depends on breaking.

Why this is load-bearing, not a nice-to-have: `sources.md`'s single-source
concentration cap limits an unrefereed preprint (arXiv:2610.10588 is
unrefereed, cross-listed physics.hist-ph/gr-qc) to three claim-notes until an
independent source corroborates it. Three notes from this capture already rest
on it; a fourth candidate claim — the Curiel reconstruction itself — was
deliberately withheld from `30-notes/` and routed here instead, both to respect
the cap and because the three kept claims all depend on the reconstruction
being accurate. Curiel's own paper is published in a different, peer-reviewed
venue by a different author — exactly the kind of independent corroboration
the cap asks for. Confirming it would discharge the cap for this branch
outright; finding a mismatch would be the more interesting outcome and would
need its own note.

Candidate next move: fetch Curiel (2019) directly (publisher page, or an
author-hosted preprint if one exists) and quote-check the five-condition
statement against Ferreiro & Cavallaro's §2.1.

**Progress, 2026-10-14.** The 2026-10-12 egalitarian-reading capture fetched
and read Curiel's own 2019 paper (arXiv:1808.08998) in full for the first
time in this vault — directly relevant to this question, but the session
pursued a different thread (Curiel's own citation of Padmanabhan and
acknowledgment of Jacobson's review; see
[[claim-curiel-2019-engages-padmanabhan-jacobson-thermodynamic-gravity]])
rather than the five-condition side-by-side comparison this question asks
for, which still has not been performed. Separately, that same capture
produced a second candidate claim (Ferreiro & Cavallaro's 2026 paper itself
showing no contact with information-theoretic/holographic-gravity
literature) that hit the same single-source cap on arXiv:2610.10588 — rather
than opening a duplicate corroboration question, it is parked here too,
pending the same independent-corroboration discharge this question already
tracks. Still open; the actual theorem comparison remains the next move.

**Resolved, 2026-10-15.** The 2026-10-13 capture performed the actual
side-by-side comparison: both papers fetched directly via `extract_pdf` and
read in full (Curiel: 30pp; Ferreiro & Cavallaro: 18pp). The five conditions
match condition-for-condition, including condition (3) — Curiel derives
weight-zero from requiring the Einstein field equation to hold under a
constant metric rescaling, given Newton's constant's invariance; Ferreiro &
Cavallaro reproduce the identical derivation before arguing quantum
renormalization's trace anomaly breaks exactly that premise. One packaging
nuance, not a mismatch: Curiel never states one unified "non-existence
theorem" — the content is distributed across his Condition 6.3, Lemma 6.2,
Theorem 7.1, and Corollary 7.2; Ferreiro & Cavallaro's own text marks their
"Theorem 1" as an explicit, attributed compression, not a quotation. Promoted
as [[claim-curiel-2019-non-existence-theorem-matches-ferreiro-cavallaro-reconstruction]].
This discharges the single-source cap this question was tracking — the
reconstruction is independently corroborated by Curiel's own peer-reviewed
paper, a different author in a different venue. One loose thread the capture
found but did not chase: Ferreiro & Cavallaro's general-order scaling formula
(order *n* scales as λ^(1−n/2)) does not match Curiel's own Proposition 6.1
(λ^(n−2)) for *n* ≠ 2, even though both agree on the critical *n* = 2 case
both papers actually use. Both passages verified grounded via `quote_check`,
so this is a real discrepancy, not an extraction artifact — logged as a watch
item in `00-meta/seek-flags.md` rather than reopening this question, since it
does not touch anything either paper's live argument rests on.
