Charles H. Bennett

IBM physicist and quantum-information pioneer, co-inventor of quantum teleportation and of quantum cryptography (BB84, with Gilles Brassard). Not to be confused with Stuart Bennett, the control-theory historian who appears elsewhere in this vault under the same surname. In 1973 his paper "Logical Reversibility of Computation" founded the theory of reversible computation.

Matters to this vault in a possible second, later role: this vault's 2026-10-28 capture credits Bennett, with Benjamin Schumacher, with having proposed (informally, prior to 2010) the postselected-teleportation construction that Lloyd et al.'s 2010 P-CTC-computation result builds on — which would make him the literal bridge figure between his own 1973 reversible-computation lineage and the Aharonov-descended postselection framework elsewhere on this hub's cluster. [unverified — the Bennett–Schumacher teleportation-CTC attribution was not read at a primary source this session; the two roles have not been found directly linked to each other in any source read so far.]
