Ferdinand Rudio

Professor at the Federal Polytechnic in Zurich who delivered a centenary tribute to Leonhard Euler at the Zurich Town Hall on 6 December 1883. His line — "almost half of his entire production dates to the years when Euler was bereft of a scholar's most valuable organ" — is, per a 2026-08-01 search, the earliest located occurrence of the widely repeated "half of Euler's output came after blindness" statistic, predating Allyn Jackson's 2002 AMS Notices wording by 119 years with no independent bibliographic count cited by either.
