Friedrich Pukelsheim

Statistician at the Universität Augsburg, known in his own field for work on apportionment methods and optimal design, who as Corresponding Editor of The IMS Bulletin solicited and published Richard McPeters's 1990 letter recounting NASA's internal 1984 investigation of the Antarctic ozone anomaly. That correspondence — preserved on Pukelsheim's own university page — is the primary record this vault's ozone-hole myth-correction ultimately traces to, 27 years before a popular science blog (RealClimate, 2017) arrived independently at a compatible but less precise account, apparently without citing him.
