Harold Hotelling

Economist and statistician who wrote the founding 1931 paper "The Economics of Exhaustible Resources," the origin of the "r-percent rule" that now names the vault's Hotelling's-rule claim cluster — a classical counterpoint to the vault's separate cost-of-production / unforgeable-costliness cluster. Slade and Thille's review, the vault's primary source for this cluster, derives and empirically tests his model rather than superseding it.
